Natomas 5K Run For Their Future

Save the Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017

Its name tells much of the story: Natomas 5K Run for their Future is a community event designed to raise money to help local kindergarten through 12th-grade students, potential leaders of tomorrow.

The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Inderkum High School, 2500 New Market Dr. The flat course loops around North Natomas Regional Park and duck pond, then finishes at the high school.

Proceeds from the 5 kilometer fun run and walk will be used by the Natomas Schools Foundation and by local schools for art, academic, athletic and other school-related purposes for students living within Natomas Unified School District boundaries.

The 5K is a fun-for-all-ages event, ideal for families and meant to accommodate everyone from competitive runners to young children to anyone desiring a little Saturday exercise by walking or jogging at their own pace.

This year’s Natomas 5K “Run For Their Future” is the second in what is planned as an annual event. Last year, it attracted hundreds of participants.

The Natomas Schools Foundation, a nonprofit group, has been active in awarding annual college scholarships — it plans to hand out $9,000 this year, in addition to numerous new or refurbished computers.

So please mark your calendar: Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017

We hope to see you there.

Fun Run and Walk

Sponsor A School, Promote Your Business

– and Students Can Run this 5K for Free

This year’s Natomas 5K community fun run to raise money for local students will offer businesses and community stakeholders the unique opportunity to sponsor a school of their choice, thus creating an everybody-wins situation in which sponsors receive widespread promotion and all students at that school can run for free.

Sponsorship will benefit the Natomas community long after runners hit the 5K finish line on October 14, 2017 because proceeds from “A Run For Their Future” will be used for college scholarships, laptop computer grants, or for other art, athletic, or academic programs benefiting students living within the Natomas Unified School District.

The fun-for-all ages community fun run – walkers are welcome too — is hosted  by the Natomas Schools Foundation, a nonprofit community group of volunteers that raises thousands of dollars each year for local students and academic causes – last year school year, it awarded $9,000 in college scholarships and 15 Chromebooks to help deserving students prepare for college and career.

Prospective sponsors can choose from among several different packages that vary in price, style and promotional benefits – $1,500 enables all students at a school to run for free, for example, while a $500 sponsorship provides the same benefit to staff. Sponsorships of the event, not a particular school, are $1,000. All three types of sponsors listed above receive T-shirt, banner, social media, and other promotional recognition that varies based on contribution. Minimum in-kind donations of $250 are required of sponsors who only want to set up a booth at the race. The top level of sponsorship, “Grand Sponsor,” costs $5,000. It allows all students and staff at a school to run for free, and provides numerous promotional benefits ranging from T-shirt, banner and poster recognition to mention on a 5K announcement to NUSD families and the opportunity to speak briefly at the race.

Click on the blue “Sponsor the Run” button above to learn more about the sponsorship levels or to become a sponsor. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. For more information, please contact Monty Maxwell at mmaxwell@guildmortgage.net or (916) 769-2383.
